About Valerie

Valerie Burgess is an illustrator, graphic designer, and aspiring flower gardener based in Bloomery, West Virginia.

She is a quick-learning perfectionist with a chronic case of “I bet I could figure that out myself”-itis. She works across a variety of media, always trying to bring texture, depth, and color to to her brand design and illustration work. After studying art and psychology at the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, VA, she relocated to Richmond, VA where she connected with her life and studio partner, Brian Dove. Together they run design studio Big Fog, collaborating on brand strategy and production. Although she has since moved to West Virginia, she remains an active (although long-distance) member of the Richmond arts community.
